In celebration of the PMA Homecoming 2009, the Philippine Military Academy Football Club (PMAFC) in coordination with the Soccer Corps Squad, Cadet Corps Armed Forces of the Philippines (CCAFP) and the Sports and Physical Development Unit, Headquarters Tactics Group (HTG), PMA; is currently preparing the 4^th PMA “Canteen Cup”, A Seven-a-Side Football Festival scheduled on February 21 and 22, 2009.

As a backgrounder, the Canteen Cup Football tournament has been successfully conducted for the past three (3) years as part of the culmination of the Alumni Homecoming celebration. It include male and female categories hence, due to popular request, we have decided to include additional categories this year especially the children categories to contribute to the “grass roots” soccer development of the country.

The title “Canteen Cup” is a two-fold term. It displays the premium of the members of the long gray line on the significance of sportsmanship and importance of discipline as members of the profession of arms, which is symbolized by one of the most vital “all-in-one” Government Issued (GI) equipment in the AFP, the canteen cup. Likewise, it captures the very essence of any sporting competition in the spirit of fair play as symbolized by the “Cup” itself.

In this regard, may we invite your participation in the following categories:

a. 9 years old and under (BOYS and GIRLS MIXED )—–

b. 13 years old and under (BOYS and GIRLS MIXED )—-

21 February 2009, 1:00 PM to 5:30PM

c. 17 years old and under (BOYS) —22 February 2009, 7:00AM to 5:30PM

d. 17 years old and under (GIRLS) —-22 February 2009, 7:00AM to 5:30PM

e. Alumni Category———— 21 13:00 to 1730 February 2009

f. Ladies’ Open—————– 22 February 2009, 7:00AM to 5:30PM

g. Men’s Open—————— 22 February 2009, 7:00AM to 5:30PM

h. 35 Years and Up———— 22 February 2009, 7:00AM to 5:30PM

Registration fee is two thousand pesos (P 2,000.00) for adults categories and one thousand pesos ( P 1,000.00) for children categories.. Your confirmation to participate is required not later than February 10, 2009. Schedules of games and bracketing will be published through the PMA Football Club website at www.pma.ph on February 12, 2009. Categories that could not be filled up before February 10, 2009 will not be played. Likewise, teams that cannot register on or before February 10, 2009 will not be included in the scheduling of games. For more information please visit the PMA Football Club website.
