Hussein confirmed that there will be 2 teams from their club joining the said event on the 13th of December 2009. The names of their teams are yet to be announced.

We are still looking forward for the confirmation of the other participating teams such as the Lingayen’s Football defending champion in the last 1st Mayor’s Football Cup held last April 2009 the Benguet State University Football Club, team from the Saint Louie University, and also the foreign teams such as the Sudanese and the Koreans.

We look forward for the best football tournament on this coming 13th of December 2009 at the Pangasinan State University football field, Lingayen, Pangasinan. Teams from other provices and regions are expected to confirm their participation as well.

Our officers and members who are the organizers of this event have dedicated to ensuring an enjoyable experience for you and your team. Our goal is to produce the most competitive and best run tournament.

The registration fee of Php 2,000.00 will cover the following expenses:

a.    Field preparation
b.    Purchasing of new official balls
c.    Trophies and awards
d.    Honorarium of Referees
e.    Foods and Beverages for Officials and Referees
f.    Other incidental expenses

Proceeds for the said event will be utilized for the development of our grassroots and to foster enthusiasm for students and teenagers to promote youth football development.

This coming Baguio Soccer Open 2009 will be an 11 a side football competition for both men’s and women’s division. Teams from different clubs in Baguio, Benguet, and as well as from other provinces like Pangasinan are expected to join the said Baguio Soccer Open 2009.

The BSU FC played in bracket B where they managed to advance in the quarter finals as they were among the top four teams in their bracket in the elimination round. Among the top four teams that advanced in quarter finals in their bracket are Baguio United Football Club team 1, Manaoag Football Club team 1, and Pangasinan State University team varsity.

In the quarter final round, the BSU FC were able to beat their opponent the Baguio United team 2 in the penalty shoot out which allows them to advance in the semi final round with the Baguio United team 1 ending up winning the match again with the final score of 2-1.

The BSU FC beat the Manaoag Football Club with the final score of 2-1. The final match is very exciting though it was raining hard during the match. Once again, congratulations to the Benguet State University Football Club for winning the 1st Mayor Castañeda Football Cup.
